- 6 slices day-old bread, cut into ½ inch cubes
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 cups warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 t. vanilla
- ½ t. ground cinnamon
- ⅛ t. salt
- Place bread in a greased baking dish (8x8).
- Combine remaining ingredients and pour over bread.
- Bake at 350°F for 50 to 60 minutes.
- Serve warm or cold.
- Pour Caramel Sauce (recipe below) over top or server with ice cream.
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup cream or milk
- 4 T. butter
- 1 t. vanilla
- ⅛ t. salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- In a small pot on low heat, cook brown sugar, cream, and butter until sugar is dissolved, or about three minutes.
- Transfer to a mixing bowl and add vanilla, salt, and powdered sugar. Blend on low to combine ingredients. Then, blend on high speed for 3-4 minutes.
- Pour over bread pudding.
