- 3 T. olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 T. minced garlic
- 1 medium-size cabbage, cored and chopped
- salt and black pepper to taste
- red pepper flakes
- ¾ cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- ¾ cup freshly grated Romano cheese
- Heat the olive oil in a large, heavy pot of medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook, stirring, until the onions are lightly golden, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the cabbage and cook, stirring, until wilted, about 5 minutes.
- Season with salt, black pepper and pepper flakes. Add the breadcrumbs and toss to distribute evenly. Transfer the mixture to a lightly buttered baking dish and top with the cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Bake until warmed well, about 25 minutes.
